Hector Chan brings extensive experience from major museums and cultural institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Art, among others. Trained as a provenance researcher and art historian, he has worked across curatorial, library, and research departments, with a focus on auction catalogues, ownership history, valuation context, and collection documentation.

As founder of Chan Art Advisory, Chan applies institutional standards of research and due diligence to advising on sales, appraisals, and collection management for private collectors and organizations. His approach is grounded in careful analysis, market awareness, and a commitment to clear, independent guidance.

Chan holds an M.A. in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art and a B.A. in History with a minor in Art History. He works internationally across the U.S., U.K., Europe, and East Asia, and is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, German, and French.
